Contemporary Artist Marilyn S. Mylrea - Portraiture Faces Masks - Jessica's Heaven

Jessica's Heaven
Oil on canvas  H. 30" x W. 40"  1997
N.F.S.

PORTRAITURE, FACES & MASKS - This painting was inspired by a true and very tragic event. It represents Jessica States, a twelve year old girl from Port Alberni, B.C. who was murdered on her way home from a baseball game. I had read about her in the newspaper and I was very upset about her death. She had the most beautiful face and she looked so sweet. I cannot understand how or why someone could have done this to her. I wanted to paint the beauty of Jessica (even though I had never met her). I have chosen to show her in heaven and surrounded by beauty and a wonderful sunset. This painting is dedicated to the memory of Jessica States and to her family.
