LANDSCAPE ART - This scene depicts a beautiful glowing sky with yellows and reds. The land at the bottom is like a fire. There is a softness in the fluid brushstrokes contrasted with a sense of power in the brilliant colours. This painting looks particularly wonderful above a fireplace. I did not consciously think about specific fires when I painted it. However, I realized afterwards, that I painted this piece shortly after the summer fires in Kelowna, B.C. and in California. So, perhaps they were subconsciously on my mind.
