Contemporary Artist Marilyn S. Mylrea - Figures Figurative Art - The Still Drumbeat

The Still Drumbeat
Oil on canvas  H. 4' x W. 10'   1986

FIGURATIVE ART - This painting shows a sad black man and a child whose hand reaches out to a light at the right. The hand symbolizes reaching out to God. There are people in the background and a drummer on the right side. I’ve painted it with warm, vivid colours and strong contrasts. It symbolizes many cultures and people in need. It is still yet the drums are beating, like the heartbeat of humanity. It was shown in the international exhibition “Fear of Others - Art Against Racism”.
