Contemporary Artist Marilyn S. Mylrea - Figures Figurative Art - Lorelei and the Wild Horse

Lorelei and the Wild Horse
Oil on canvas  H. 4' x W. 3'  1992

FIGURATIVE ART - In this work, I’ve depicted a wild horse and a doll that I’ve entitled Lorelei. The horse represents masculinity and the doll represents femininity. The horse is active, strong and wild. The doll is soft, passive and gentle. I also see it as a reflection of patriarchy that dominates women.
